Pakistan Income Tax (Salaried) — 2025–2026 Explained

This page explains how the salaried income tax slabs work in Pakistan for the 2025–2026 tax year. The calculator above gives a quick estimate using the same slab table shown on this page, so you can see your yearly tax, monthly tax, and take‑home salary in seconds.

How the slab system works

Pakistan uses a progressive tax system for salaried individuals. That means different parts of your yearly taxable income are charged at different rates. If your income moves into a higher slab, only the amount above that slab threshold is taxed at the higher rate — not your entire income.

Example concept (not a filing statement): If your yearly taxable income crosses into the next bracket, you only pay the higher percentage on the portion that exceeds that bracket’s lower limit.

Monthly vs yearly tax

Your employer typically withholds tax monthly, but the slabs are defined on yearly taxable income. The calculator converts your monthly salary into yearly income and then estimates monthly tax by dividing the annual tax by 12. This is a simple, transparent estimate for planning purposes.

What counts as taxable income?

“Taxable income” generally refers to your gross salary after considering any allowable deductions or exemptions under the applicable rules. If you receive bonuses, arrears, or allowances, your annual taxable income may change and move you into a higher slab. For precise filing, confirm with official guidance or a qualified tax professional.

Surcharge for high income

If your taxable income exceeds Rs. 10,000,000 in the year, a 9% surcharge applies on the calculated income tax. The calculator includes this surcharge after computing the base tax.

How to use this calculator
